Classic Transport offers a range of driving programs. These programs give qualified drivers the opportunity to enjoy driving cross-country while earning a substantial income. Below, we explain more about these driving programs, including Driveaway, Towaway, and Multi-Haul.
The Driveaway Program
At Classic Transport, the Driveaway program matches drivers with commercial customers who need units delivered across North America. Some of the popular customers include Frito-Lay, Sara Lee, UPS, and FedEx. Other customers may need vehicles delivered, such as Class C Motorhomes, like Forest River and THOR. Most of the Driveaway contracts will start from the local Elkhart, Indiana area, however, some will originate from Ladson, South Carolina.
Understanding the Driveaway Compensation and Trip Requirements
As a Driveaway driver, you will be driving the customers’ vehicle one way. This means that you will need to arrange transportation back after the delivery. One option is to rent a car using the Classic Transport discount with National Car Rental. You can also opt to tow a small personal vehicle weighing under 3,500 lbs on most trips.
During the journey, drivers must organize their accommodation and meals. Luckily, Classic Transport has special rates with many hotels across the U.S.
For all Driveaway contracts, Classic Transport will pre-pay half of the total compensation at the start of the trip. This is to help drivers cover the costs of the journey, including fuel or accommodation requirements. The remaining balance is paid upon delivery of the unit.
The Towaway Program
At Classic Transport, the Towaway program uses drivers with their own 3/4-ton or 1-ton pick up trucks to deliver travel trailers or fifth wheels to dealerships across North America. We work directly with RV manufacturers like Forest River and THOR, with most trips beginning in Goshen, Indiana.
Understanding the Towaway Compensation and Trip Requirements
As a Towaway driver, you will be using your own vehicle to deliver the units for our commercial customers. Often these trips are one-way, however, we can try to organize backhauls to make the overall trip more profitable. During the trip, drivers must organize their own accommodation and food. As with all Classic Transport contractors, you will have access to a range of discounts for popular hotel chains.
For all Towaway contracts, Classic Transport will pre-pay half of the total compensation before the trip. This is to cover the costs of the journey, including fuel or accommodation requirements. The remaining balance is paid upon delivery.
Towaway Truck Requirements
The truck you use must pass DOT registration requirements and have insurance with a minimum $500,000 unladen liability coverage. Classic Transport prefers trucks to be less than 10 years old, however, exceptions may apply for well-maintained trucks. Your truck must also have a Class 4 or better load leveling hitch and receiver, or a fifth wheel hitch rated for 15,000 lbs.
You must also carry an emergency kit including a fire extinguisher, set of flares, triangles, a breakaway battery, lug wrench, six foot safety chain, jack, spare fuses and other basic tools. All mirrors must also be capable of towing 102 inch wide trailers.
The Multi-Haul Program
At Classic Transport, the Multi-Haul program utilizes drivers with a 1-ton truck and trailer to transport multiple RVs simultaneously. Often, these units are going to different locations and reloads are much more common. Classic Transport will coordinate pickups and drop-offs with commercial customers, taking the stress out of planning reloads.
Understanding the Multi-Haul Compensation and Trip Requirements
As a Multi-Haul driver, you will be using your own vehicle to transport multiple units across North America during each trip. These trips can be one-way, however, there are opportunities for reloads to maximize your earnings. As with the other programs, drivers must organize their own accommodation and food. You will have access to discounts through Classic Transport, or you can sleep in your vehicle.
For all Multi-Haul contracts, Classic Transport will pre-pay half of the total compensation before the trip. This helps cover the costs of the journey, including fuel or accommodation requirements. The remaining balance is paid upon delivery to the final location.
